A Word from the President

AdrianIt’s been another exciting quarter here at the Chamber and it’s hard to believe we’re already half way through the year!
The Chelsey Ebert Celebrity Weekend, held in May, was a huge success, raising around $60,000. We couldn’t have done this event without the support of many of our members who, for the Trust, donated auction items and their time toward making the event wonderful and inspiring. A special shout out to our Ambassador team who donated over 50 volunteer hours to the event.
We have been adding many new member benefits, such as HRGear which provides a library of human resource tools for your business, as well as the Mentor Program, which aims to connect established Chamber members with other members who are looking for business mentoring. This is an opt-in program so if you are interested, please email Ann.
In July, Kelsey our Event & Program Coordinator, celebrates her two year anniversary with the Chamber. Kelsey has brought new and exciting additions to our events and programs in her two years here and we are happy to have her as a part of the Ferndale Chamber team.
Our next large upcoming event is the Ferndale Street Festival on August 26-27. This event sees over 8,000 people from Western Washington and Canada and features a Kids Street, car show, over 120 vendors, live music and a beer. Sponsorship, vendor and volunteer opportunities are still available so please contact Kelsey if you are interested in getting involved.
As always, feel free to contact me if you have any questions, comments or concerns.
Have a great summer!

A Word From Chamber President, Adrian Hilde

AdrianOut with the old and in with the new 2016 Ferndale Chamber.

I hope you all had a happy and safe holiday season. My name is Adrian Hilde your new Chamber president. I own BPOC Services, a commercial janitorial company, along with my business partner Tom Manion.

I have been a Member of the Chamber for going on six years now and I look forward to serving as your president. I encourage each and every one of you to tell me how the Chamber could be improved to serve you, the Member, better.  Let’s all do our part to make this the best Chamber ever.

I would like to thank Larry Hoffman and the current Board of Directors for all of their hard work in the last year, as well as Ann and Kelsey, who are two of the best assets we have as a Chamber.  I would also like to take a moment to welcome the newest addition to our Board, Lisa Hanley of Baker Septic Tank Pumping Inc.

If you have not taken advantage of ChamberMaster yet, please spend some time learning how to use this useful tool as I am more than positive it will be beneficial to you and your business. If you would like an introduction or a tutorial of ChamberMaster all you have to do is ask and we would be happy to assist you.

We are here to help you and the Ferndale community grow and prosper into a bigger and better place to live and work. Our annual Board Retreat is just around the corner and I am looking forward to holing up in a room for a few hours and deciding the direction of the Chamber for the next year.

If you have not yet RSVP’d for the Annual Banquet, you will be missing out on our Diamond Jubilee celebration. That’s right folks your Chamber has hit the 60 year milestone. I encourage you to come out and wish it a happy birthday with food and fun for all. This is a great event to connect to your fellow Chamber Members, celebrate accomplishments and support local scholarships by helping us raise money at our silent auction.

I hope to see you all at the banquet in my ill fitting suit.

A Word From Chamber President Larry Hoffman

larryFall is upon us!   With that brings us just that much closer to another great year at the Chamber.   Some of the successful things we can look back at over this year are the Spring Run Off, the Chelsey Ebert Event, Flicks in the Park and of course the moving of the Chamber office to the Pioneer Pavilion location.

This will be my last note to you as Chamber President.  I will be stepping back and letting someone else take you to the next level.  As my second term winds down, I look back and reflect on the changes that have been made over these last few years to make the Chamber into a useful tool for you and your business.  The upgraded website, the new facilities, the expansion of the Visitor Center and interaction the Chamber can provide to you not only locally, but at a State level.

Some of the things that are left to do, will be coming soon.   The addition of the “ChamberMaster” software will be a great addition to the tools that will be available to help you grow your business.  This tool alone will enhance your membership.  Look for announcements coming up on how it can help you.

As I step away, I would like to thank the past and present Board members who helped me make the last 2 years something that I will look back on fondly.  I would also like to thank the staff for their hard work.   They put in long hours to make the Chamber work for you.  Finally, I would like to thank all the members for their support through my steep learning curve as president.

I look forward to the last 3 months, and hope to see you all at either a luncheon, or one of the upcoming events.

A Word From the President

larryIt’s been quite a summer for the Chamber!   The move from 2nd Avenue to the Pioneer Pavilion is complete, planning for the Street Festival is in full swing, and we have officially hit the second half of the year!

I would like to take this opportunity to thank not only the Staff and the Board for their hard work in making the transition to the new offices, but also to thank the City for their cooperation in making this all happen.  There were countless hours put into this process, starting several years ago.  Seeing the new offices and Visitors Center open for business is not only satisfying, but something that will help the Chamber and our local  businesses  by having a more functional visitors center.  There will be an “open house” coming up in the early part of August, so look for announcements and please come join us to celebrate the move.

Moving onto the remaining half of the year, Ferndale is going to be a busy place! Old Settlers Weekend starts us off followed by our second “Flicks in the Park” coming up on August 7th, playing one of my personal favorite movies “Up”.  If you have not been to one of these movies, it’s a great way to spend some quality time relaxing and enjoying a feature film under the stars.  The Street Festival is on track to be one of the biggest ones we have ever had.   Vendors are filling in the remaining spots (check with Kelsey if you have not reserved yours yet) and the lineup of entertainment looks fantastic this year.

This year has shown the strength of the Chamber.  Working through a major move while continuing to provide the services without interruption.    The Chamber strives to meet the needs of its membership, and this last 6 months has been a testament to that commitment!    Enjoy the rest of your summer and I hope to see you at one of the many events coming up in our great City!

–Larry Hoffman
