For over a decade, the Ferndale Chamber, along with numerous partners and donors, have been delighting visitors and locals alike with the largest flower baskets in Whatcom County. These beautiful displays of pink line the streets of Ferndale in all directions for over a mile, bringing the feeling of summer to our community. When asked why pink every year, the response is that is has become a symbol of Ferndale but also because they require no maintenance besides watering care.
These baskets are watered daily by one individual, Bob Curtis, who has been the proud flower basket caretaker for many years. He drives up and down the streets of Ferndale sometimes twice a day, making sure that all the baskets are watered and fertilized in order to bring them to their full potential.
