Nothing says holiday’s in a small town like Mr. & Mrs. Claus, candy canes, hot cocoa and cookies and community. Join us and your neighbors the first Friday in December at 5 pm as we light up the trees at the Centennial River Walk fountain. The Whatcom County Fire District #7 escorts Santa and Mrs. Claus to the waiting crowd in their big fire truck where candy canes and wishes of good will are exchanged and Santa and the Mayor light up the holiday trees. Decorated by Whatcom County Fire District #7, it’s a magic event to kick of the holiday season!
For exact times and details, please visit our Event Calendar and go to the first Friday in December.
When you’re done enjoying the lights, take a leisurely stroll down the River Walk to Pioneer Park (or enjoy a nice horse pulled wagon ride) to the Ole’ Fashioned Christmas. The Ferndale Heritage Society meticulously decorates all of the log cabins in their best holiday garb and welcomes everyone in for a weekend of holiday spirit. The kids can write letters to Santa in the old school and mail them in the old post office. It’s a great family tradition and one not to be missed.
