Ambassador of the Quarter, Fall 2016

shasonta-delmage-new-photoI love helping people feel their best through high quality food and intentional movement. This love led me to switch careers in my late 30s from marketing communications to fitness and nutrition. I currently manage CrossFit X and love seeing people achieve things they never thought they could! It’s all about providing a supportive, community-driven environment where people feel safe and want to push themselves to try new, amazing things.
I became an ambassador because I want to get to know my local community, meet other businesses and people right in my backyard, help further the Chamber’s mission, and I increase pride in our community and enhance and support quality economic growth.
Shasonta was chosen by her fellow Ambassadors as the Ambassador of the Quarter for the third quarter of 2016.

Ambassador of the Quarter

Julie Farrow BESTWhen I moved my Farmers Insurance agency from Bellingham to Main Street, over a year ago, I admit I didn’t know very much about Ferndale.  I decided to join the Ferndale Chamber of Commerce and have truly valued its role as a venue for meeting people, finding out about community events and marketing my agency.
I am proud to be an Ambassador as I believe that a strong, vibrant Chamber is only possible when its members are active.  With such a small staff, and yet such a powerful and broad-reaching mission, it takes all of us to help carry the cause.
I consider being an Ambassador for the Chamber to be a means to meet more people and discover more about this great community while trying to help build the Chamber’s effectiveness in carrying out its important work.  I know the more in touch I am with our local businesses and our municipality at large, the better I will be able to serve their insurance needs.

Lorraine Morris

Lorraine Morris, Bank of the Pacific

Being a Chamber Ambassador has been a great opportunity for me to get to know many of my fellow community members in our corner of Whatcom County.  Whether it’s a ribbon cutting celebrating a new business, a Member of the Month presentation honoring an established Chamber Member, or the monthly lunch meeting, I know I can always count on being surrounded by like-minded business owners and community members looking for ways to support and promote each other.  My goal is to not just meet and greet those whose paths I cross, but to build lasting relationships.

I grew up on a family farm in the Yakima Valley and moved with my husband to Birch Bay nearly 20 years ago where we still reside with our two teenage children.  I’ve worked in Banking for over 20 years, and I have the distinct privilege of managing the Ferndale Bank of the Pacific.  Bank of the Pacific has been providing banking solutions for small-to-medium sized businesses and farms for over 40 years.  I welcome you to stop by our branch located at 1860 Main Street just across the street from The Woods Coffee.  We look forward to serving you!

Alyssa SpringsBeing an Ambassador is fun and easy to work into my schedule. As someone who owns a local business, but is not native to Whatcom County, meeting new people is fun yet daunting when you walk into a room full of people you haven’t met yet. That’s why I enjoy introducing potential new members around at Chamber functions. I personally love hospitality and making people feel at home! I also attend ribbon cuttings, open houses and delivering Member of the Month plaques. How often do we go out of our way to see or experience another member’s workplace? When you learn more about someone, it’s easier to help them. Volunteering at the luncheon registration table is also a nice way to help me remember faces and names. When it comes down to it, being an Ambassador for the Chamber is a great way to build better relationships and help those same members feel welcome, included and important in our Chamber community.
