Ambassador of the Quarter

Julie Farrow BESTWhen I moved my Farmers Insurance agency from Bellingham to Main Street, over a year ago, I admit I didn’t know very much about Ferndale.  I decided to join the Ferndale Chamber of Commerce and have truly valued its role as a venue for meeting people, finding out about community events and marketing my agency.
I am proud to be an Ambassador as I believe that a strong, vibrant Chamber is only possible when its members are active.  With such a small staff, and yet such a powerful and broad-reaching mission, it takes all of us to help carry the cause.
I consider being an Ambassador for the Chamber to be a means to meet more people and discover more about this great community while trying to help build the Chamber’s effectiveness in carrying out its important work.  I know the more in touch I am with our local businesses and our municipality at large, the better I will be able to serve their insurance needs.

Julie was chosen by her fellow Ambassadors as the Ambassador of the Quarter for the second quarter of 2016.

Chamber Business Scholarships

As a Chamber Member, you have various benefits available to you and the newest is the Business Scholarship Program. We are giving away up to $500 a quarter to Members who are looking to increase their employee’s or their own education in their field of expertise.
For example, if your business would benefit from an employee having better bookkeeping skills rather than outsourcing or hiring more employees then apply for a scholarship for a class. Once approved, we will reimburse you for those expenses up to $500. (Proof of completion and payment will be required) For details regarding our Business Scholarships and the application, please go to our website today.

Chamber Introduces Mentor Program

The Ferndale Chamber is excited to be launching a new program for its Members. The Pairing, a mentoring program, is now available. Mentoring is all about learning and growing. Our program is set up for our mentors to spend a committed amount of time with their mentee and provide experience that will help the mentee work their way through defining and then achieving the learning objectives they set forth.
The Chamber is looking for Members that are willing to share their “secrets of success” and pitfalls to avoid in business, or are looking to connect to someone who can helps them with a new business or how get to that next level. A Word from the President

AdrianIt’s been another exciting quarter here at the Chamber and it’s hard to believe we’re already half way through the year!
The Chelsey Ebert Celebrity Weekend, held in May, was a huge success, raising around $60,000. We couldn’t have done this event without the support of many of our members who, for the Trust, donated auction items and their time toward making the event wonderful and inspiring. A special shout out to our Ambassador team who donated over 50 volunteer hours to the event.
We have been adding many new member benefits, such as HRGear which provides a library of human resource tools for your business, as well as the Mentor Program, which aims to connect established Chamber members with other members who are looking for business mentoring. This is an opt-in program so if you are interested, please email Ann.
In July, Kelsey our Event & Program Coordinator, celebrates her two year anniversary with the Chamber. Kelsey has brought new and exciting additions to our events and programs in her two years here and we are happy to have her as a part of the Ferndale Chamber team.
Our next large upcoming event is the Ferndale Street Festival on August 26-27. This event sees over 8,000 people from Western Washington and Canada and features a Kids Street, car show, over 120 vendors, live music and a beer. Sponsorship, vendor and volunteer opportunities are still available so please contact Kelsey if you are interested in getting involved.
As always, feel free to contact me if you have any questions, comments or concerns.
Have a great summer!

–Adrian Hilde, Ferndale Chamber of Commerce President

FERNDALE GROCERY OUTLET

We are new to the community and we have felt so welcomed by our business partners as well by our local community.  Our decision to relocate our family back to Ferndale was pretty easy.  As you know my wife grew up in Ferndale, so for us this was like coming home.  We found out that things have changed in Ferndale since we left 13 years ago.  It is still as small town, but it has grown a lot and I look forward to seeing it continue to mature with the support of the Ferndale Grocery Outlet.
